Sarah chooses symbols as the subjects of her works and then modifies their immediate well known meaning, with a partial act of violence - her peace dove is made out of bullet holes and the romantic piano is also pierced with bullets. Places that we like to think of as nostalgic like the kitchen with it's cooking smells and warmth and cozy living rooms are wrapped in aluminium and become sterile. Sarah deliberately erases their colors, texture and fabrics. these places don't loose their identity, we can still recognize them, but they do loose their personality. By changing the core character of symbols Sarah questions our perception of them.
